Another day and another Quote of the Day. The past can be a tough thing and it is filled with snares. If we did wonderful yesterday we can over analyze what we did to try and duplicate every step, thought, word and action to repeat it. If it was a bad day, we can go out of our way to do the opposite of everything we said, did, thought and ate to try and make today different. We always want to be learning and growing from yesterday but we never want to hang on to it long enough that it starts to weigh us down and hold us back from moving forward. We want to celebrate and cherish milestones and victories but we don’t want to get complacent or comfortable and stop pushing ourselves forward. It is a very difficult thing for me. I tend to give my past too much weight for the negative and I have a tendency to rush to change things and it takes me out of the habits, thought processes and methodology that have helped me come this far. Like my dad has always taught me, that which comes hardest is usually best for me, that which comes easiest usually isn’t. And to strike the right balance between learning from my past and still laying it down is very difficult. It is a struggle. The key for me is to not get hung up on perfection. It’s not about doing it 100% right every time, it’s about doing my best, about trying to do a little better, learn a little more and balance a little better with the next step. Life is about growth, change and learning. Take the opportunity today to make sure your past isn’t taking up too much of your present. There is a reason the rear view is so much smaller than your windshield. Life is lived looking and moving forward. Have a blessed day, y’all! Stay safe, stay dry and enjoy another beautiful day.
