Here we are at the beginning of another work week and another Quote of the Day. I talk a lot about how personal and individual the journey for change is to each of us. No two journeys are the same because no two people are the same. Our starting point, our experiences, our thoughts, our goals are all slightly different and completely unique to us as individuals. If the journey is so unique then why do we spend so much time trying to duplicate someone else’s path? I’ve been guilty of this more times than I would like to admit. It is easy to find someone who has done something akin to what I am struggling with. I can see their path and it is easy to try and just follow along but it never seems to really take me where I want to go… because I’m not following my own course. When I try to blaze my own trail it is a lot more challenging. All the answers aren’t laid out before me. I have to find my path, I have to risk a mistake and risk needing to try again. But it has been the only way to truly learn the lessons necessary to go where I dreamed of going. Hopefully this image will help. The difference between following someone’s path and following a similar path is the same difference between running through the woods with someone else. I can slow my pace and spend my time trying to place my feet exactly where theirs landed and go wherever they take me or I can rush ahead so I can run along side them heading in a similar direction buy finding my own footing. There is more risk in the latter but it is the only way to have my journey take me where I want to be. Take a couple minutes today and make sure the path you are following today is headed where you want to go and not where someone else’s path lead them. Have a blessed day, y’all! Stay safe, stay dry and enjoy another beautiful day.
