Quote of the Day 04/24/2019

Halfway through another work week and another Quote of the Day. I heard a quote that was attributed to Albert Einstein. It said that you can never solve a problem by using the same way of thinking you had when you created the problem. This is a concept that I struggle with. I don’t struggle because I think it’s untrue but because it has required me to step back further from things in order to accommodate this line of thought. I’ve spent years believing that being healthy and being on top of my life both from a nutritional and an activity level stand point was all about motivation. I spent years believing that if I found the right mix of diet and exercise that it would click and I’d wake up happy and motivated every morning to do what that lifestyle demanded of me. I would constantly try new combinations and get very upset with myself that I couldn’t find the right mix for me. I blamed myself for being too mentally weak to stick with something to have the results I kept seeing others have with a particular mix. And therein lies the rub. See, I was trying to change my results by changing the steps I was taking but not the thoughts that were guiding those steps. When it finally hit me that a different diet philosophy is not the same thing as a different philosophy about diet my world began to shift. I had finally begun to look at things differently and I was seeing different results. The second piece that I had to learn with this shifting mindset was that change doesn’t happen without changing something and that the greater the change I struggle to enforce the greater the effort and dedication to make that change permanent. So, if I wanted to build success, change my momentum and truly transform then I needed to stop trying to “eat the elephant in one bite.” I had to make small changes. I had to be patient. I had to do the little things. I needed to start smaller. That was the point when life really started to transform. I still struggle. I still have set backs but now I have a proven routine in place to help me get to the next stage of where I want to be… Take a few minutes today and make sure that you look at that old problem in a new way so you can see that problem change. It won’t be easy and it isn’t simple but you are worth it. Have a blessed day, y’all! Stay safe, stay dry and enjoy another beautiful day.

Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change
